Sniper scope

A sniper scope is used by snipers so they can pinpoint their target from a distance. Snipers are popular in action movies where the police or military are called in to take out a villain and the hero is a lot has one last chance to save the day. This summer's megahit Hancock starring Will Smith features snipers.

The sniper scope was used in the military as early as the American Civil War on rifles. However, the scopes are not always advantageous in the battlefield. The glass lenses can break and dirt and mud can model the external lenses.

A sniper scope unfortunately can also reflect sunlight which can reveal the hidden location of the sniper. Still, the market for high-tech telescopic sights used for warfare is very lucrative. High-end military sniper sites can cost over $2000.
