Scopes

Scopes are technically known as telescopic sights. As their name suggests, they are created to enhance vision by a significant amount. They are used on such items as crossbows, air guns, and firearms.

The different types of scopes are classified by two things: optical magnification and objective lens diameter. For instance a 10x50 sight would offer ten times magnification and an objective lens of 50mm. It is good to note that the optical magnification number may include a range, for instance 3-9x40.

Scopes come with different reticles. The most common of these are the traditional crosshairs created from intersecting lines. These designs and shapes on the sights allow the shooter to complete more accurate shots. Fine crosshair, duplex crosshair, German reticle, target dot, mil-dot, and old and modern range finding are just a few examples of the different types of reticles possible.
